Timeless Craftsmanship: The Vintage Camera

I transitioned to Blender at my last workplace, embarking on a journey into the modern age of environment art, leaving Maya behind. I will miss Maya, especially the speed and accuracy I developed over the years, with its snapping, UV mapping, and other features. My initial move to Blender was a bit messy; I felt sluggish and slow. However, the program felt very fresh, and I was determined to master it. Over my past two employments, I have started to feel secure and confident modeling in Blender. From time to time, I do these modeling exercises to deep dive into certain techniques and methods. What I really like about Blender is that it is the whole package and does everything very well (except UV mapping).

This vintage camera is one of those exercises where I focused on simple yet complex shapes. I also wanted to learn my way around Cycles and Blender's Compositor for rendering and editing.

The main reference I used is the Revere Model 88, which I modified with some of my own tweaks.

The model is created in Blender, textured in Substance Designer and Painter, and rendered in Blender. Final color tweaks were done in Lightroom.
